Commemoration ceremony on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of death of Heydar Aliyev
On December 10, 2015 commemoration ceremony on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of death of Heydar Aliyev, national leader of Azerbaijani people was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
National leader was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Speakers noted exceptional contribution by the national leader Heydar Aliyev as a founder of modern state in Azerbaijan. It was stated that during his leadership country's political, public, social, economic, scientific-cultural life, as well as international relations revived, the process of establishment of independent statehood based on international norms and principles had been launched.
While considering the role of Heydar Aliyev in development of modern Azerbaijan, one should also not neglect his services as the leader of the country even when Azerbaijan was a part of the Soviet Union. As a result of reforms and strategic measures conducted during Heydar Aliyev’s leadership in 1969-1982 Azerbaijan developed firmly and became an important republic of the USSR.
After the return of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to the leadership in Azerbaijan in 1993 the people of Azerbaijan was relieved of dangers they faced during the first years of independence and reforms in all spheres had started.
Among the most notorious long-period achievements of Heydar Aliyev’s leadership period in 1993-2003 the following should be named: establishment of public-political stability in the country, creation of democratic statehood institutions, identification of main economic priorities after achieving ceasefire in Karabakh, elaboration of oil strategy of the independent state, signing of the Contract of the Century, pursuing multivectoral and balanced foreign policy model, establishment of modern and able army and etc.
Heydar Aliyev has been a protector of Azerbaijani language and has contributed to the development of Azerbaijani language as the official language.
In 1993-2003 economy of Azerbaijan escaped crisis and collapse period and entered the path of development of escalation. Economic reforms provided for the improvement of financial situation of the country and increasing of the state budget.
Foreign policy of Heydar Aliyev was based on peace, respect of international law, inviolability and integrity of territorial integrity of states and borders and principles of mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the Presidency of Heydar Aliyev a durable base for the modern development of the country was established and all the conditions for Azerbaijan’s future integration to the modern world were created.
After return to the Azerbaijan's state leadership in 1993, HeydarAliyev's policy of friendly neighborhood and sincere friendship resulted in successful outcomes. As a result of this policy relations between Azerbaijan and Iran enjoy mutual confidence and development. In the past period trade turnover between two countries enhanced, number of custom cross border points increased, cooperation within international organizations intensified. Policy of ensuring bilateral development dynamics between two countries is being successfully continued also by President Ilham Aliyev. During 2014 mutual official visits of the Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and other high-level officials took place and the documents identifying and developing new areas of cooperation between two countries were signed.
